This is a leading strategic role managing the External Communications and Social Media teams within a large global organisation within the software industry. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and confident Head of /Director of External Communications to create the strategy and develop this highly visible role. Must be willing to travel (approx. 15% time).
global external communications director Duties Include:
• Leads the global external communications team comprising PR and Social Media teams, including setting the global PR and social strategy,
• Leading the global activation of our client’s thought leadership program. Defining topics and speakers
• Managed agencies worldwide, including tracking performance, setting up contracts, and managing budgets.
• Leads the management of PR and social content strategy and planning, including working with agencies, SMEs and the wider market to identify differentiated messaging and positions
• Leads the development and design of the PR and social media process and press materials and guides the team in responding rapidly to media enquiries.
• Manages the development of effective external crisis communications, including the development of external crisis communications manuals and protocols and attending crisis communications training sessions
• Engagement with Employee Communications, DEI and Sustainability. Engage and present with senior leadership on strategy and offer counsel to C-suite and ELT
The global external communications director will be:
• Proven leadership in PR and social media, ideally in a global corporate environment
• Proven expertise in building and executing effective PR and social media strategies and designing and optimizing content for diverse audiences and platforms
• Ability to build strong relationships within the working environment while collaborating effectively with all cross-organizational functions
• Strong analytical and relationship-building skills in the wider market and with key networks and stakeholders to keep our client abreast of the global conversation and maintain contacts with key thought leaders
• Confident in managing agency partners
• Prior experience in regional or multi-market collaboration/coordination
• Able to budget for a department and manage requirements for global teams
• Bachelor’s Degree in a marketing, communications, technology, or related field or equivalent experience
• Experience within a global technology/SaaS company – software technology vendor preferred,
